We are only midway through September, and the rain has come on in full force. Ugh! It’s hard to get paint to stick on a house in the rain! But this is a great time to get indoors and paint the interior!
Changing or renewing the color in your house is a big deal! Make sure that you are hiring someone with experience, knowledge and skills. Ask for references and get a proposal or quote in writing!
When you get a quote from a painter, make sure that it includes all the tasks needed to complete a quality, lasting paint job. This includes prep work- cleaning walls, sanding, patching masking, removing fixtures where needed- actual paint time and clean up. These tasks should be on your proposal or quote. You should also see a quote for materials. This doesn’t just include paint. It should include all the materials to complete the job.
It doesn’t hurt to get more than one quote or proposal. Meet with the painter- you need to be able to work with this person and trust that they will do a quality job for you. Ask questions. What do they require to complete the job? What brand of paint do they prefer? Why? What is their process? What are the hours they intend to work?
Making sure you have the right painter for you is key- this is a working relationship that should take you through any of your needs throughout your home’s lifetime.
